Leah Remini Reminds Fan About Tom Cruise’s Scientology Connection: ‘Don’t Be Fooled’

Leah Remini has reminded fans not to forget about Tom Cruise’s connection to Scientology in the wake of the success of his new movie Top Gun: Maverick. The movie made more than $100 million in its opening weekend alone and fans are loving it, but Remini doesn’t want Hollywood to overshadow reality.

  1. Remini is an outspoken former member of the Church of Scientology. Since leaving in 2013, she’s continued to speak out against its harmful practices, even hosting her own multi-part docuseries that presented a deep dive into what goes on in the religion.
  2. The King of Queens actress took to Twitter to hit out at Cruise. She shared a screenshot from friend and fellow former Scientologist Claire Headley in which Cruise was accused of promoting “a dangerous cult that destroyed my family.” Headley wrote: “So no, I will not watch the movie, nor will I ever support or approve of this scam of a man. Trust me, Tom Cruise knows exactly who he is supporting and the abuses the organization perpetuates.”
  3. Remini reminded fans not to “let the movie star charm fool you.” Above Headley’s post, Remini praised her friend for continuing to be outspoken despite the harassment she receives in return. “Thank you to my friend @claireheadley for your courage. You have continued to speak out despite the non-stop attacks from Scientology,” she wrote. “And as Claire says in her post below, Tom Cruise knows exactly what goes on in Scientology. Don’t let the movie star charm fool you.”
  4. Representatives for Tom Cruise and Leah Remini did not respond to requests for comment. INSIDER reached out to reps for both actors but had not heard back. While it’s unlikely that Cruise would ever publicly acknowledge Remini’s criticism of himself or Scientology, Remini will continue to speak her truth about her experiences within the Church.
