I don’t care how not corny you are in your everyday life—when it’s Christmastime, EVERYONE secretly (or not-so-secretly) loves cheesy Christmas movies that you’d swear you hate at any other time. Everyone! Love Actually is a particular favorite at this time of year, but Netflix’s new original Let It Snow is being heralded as the updated version targeted at teens. Basically, you need to stream it ASAP.
- Love Actually is a classic. Admittedly, it’s definitely far from my favorite Christmas movie (I’m more of a fan of The Holiday if I’m being honest) but I do recognize its place high up in the Christmas movie lexicon. The movie turned 16 this year and we’re still watching it, so that says something about its longevity.
- Let It Snow gives it a much-needed update. The premise is simple: a snowstorm hits a small town on Christmas Eve, which “affects the love lives, friendship, and future of several high school seniors.” It sounds pretty basic until you realize that it’s actually so much more than that.
- There’s a lot more diversity here. Not only does Let It Snow includes several cast members of color, it also gives non-hetero love stories a chance to shine—there’s an adorable lesbian couple that will make your heart melt—and also provides an alternative: one of the characters decides to choose herself over some loser guy who’s not worthy of her. Don’t worry, straight, normal couples get their chance too, Let It Snow just wants to include everyone. Thanks, Netflix!
- It has a great cast. Based on the John Green book of the same name, Netflix’s movie version features Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s Kiernan Shipka, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’s Shameik Moore, and Spider-Man: Homecoming star Jacob Batalon, just to name a few.
- It’s exactly what we need this holiday season. Sometimes you just need some unbridled sappiness and joy in your life and Let It Snow has that in spades. I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to make a cup of hot cocoa, get my fluffiest blanket and force my dog to stop being hyper, and put this baby on.
I feel like Let it Snow on Netflix is like Love Actually for teenagers today.

let it snow on netflix is IT. you've got the cliché friends to lovers couple, a lesbian couple, a girl choosing herself/friendship over the asshole guy, and the wattpad-ish superstar and normal girl couple. and on top of that it's a christmas movie. what else could you ask for?

watching let it snow on netflix primarily to inject the "one person in the world who doesn't have a crush on the hot celeb runs into them and shenanigans ensue" trope directly into my veins pic.twitter.com/aJ5hBAdf1R
