Woman Accused Of Murdering 11-Year-Old Stepson Complains Jail Is ‘Unfair’

A Colorado woman accused of killing her 11-year-old stepson has written to a judge to complain about the ‘unfair’ conditions she’s experienced while in prison awaiting trial. Letecia Hauch’s stepson Gannon was reported missing from his home in Colorado Springs on January 27 and his body was later discovered in Florida. Authorities are certain Hauch is behind the crime.

  1. Hauch painted a portrait of lies. Gannon didn’t go to school on the day he went missing, and Hauch told the school it was because he was sick. However, she told her boss a totally different story, leading police to suspect her initially. Her lies quickly began to unravel and when authorities discovered Gannon’s blood in the home, they knew something was seriously wrong. They later discovered 20 of the child’s partial remains in Florida and arrested Hauch in South Carolina on March 2.
  2. Hauch isn’t having a great time in jail. According to the Denver Post, Hauch faces “two counts of first-degree murder, child abuse resulting in death, tampering with a deceased human body and tampering with physical evidence.” Those are pretty serious charges and ones that even other hardened criminals don’t take well to. Given how quickly news spreads around prison, pretty much everyone knows what she’s there for and they’ve all made her life a living hell.
  3. She believes her prison experience has been “unfair.” Not only that, but she claims that she’s been subjected to abuse by other prisoners and staff alike. “On 15-plus times I have been abused in transport, ranging from injured ribs, knot on my head, several ankle, and wrist bleeding (sic), bruising on my knee in my cell loss of feeling in my hands several times,” she said in a letter to Judge Gregory Werner, according to The Gazette. She also claimed that she’d been threatened through a jar of peanut butter in August, insisting that people are trying to poison her food.
  4. She’ll appear in court on November 12. There, a judge will review the latest psychological evaluation she’s undergone to determine her fitness for trial. While it’s clear there’s something very wrong with her, I don’t think insanity is it.
