Life Is So Much Better When You’re Not Looking For Love

There are plenty of single women out there who just don’t care about finding The One — they might not even believe there’s a “One” for every person. If you’re single and not actively going on any first dates, you’re probably still having the time of your life. Here’s what it’s really like to be totally uninterested in finding love:

  1. You’re reaching daily goals and dreams. You’re not caught up in what your new boyfriend just texted you or whether you’re getting what you want out of the relationship. You’re following your biggest career dreams and actually seeing success on a daily basis. You have the time and energy to put effort into what you want out of your professional life and you couldn’t be more thrilled about it.
  2. You’re enough. Basically, you don’t think that you need a guy to make you feel beautiful, and you don’t care what others think about you. You don’t need an “other half” or even a first date. You believe that you’re enough, right this moment, where you are in your life.
  3. You’re bad date-free. Your friends are so jealous because they’re right there in the single-and-dating trenches, going on bad date after bad date and wondering if they’ll ever meet some version of Mr. Right. You, on the other hand, never go on bad dates and the freedom is completely glorious.
  4. You’re taking care of yourself. You have all the time in the world to focus on yourself and no, you’re not selfish, you’re just doing what you deserve. You’re getting healthy and working out as much as you want and feel happier than you ever have before.
  5. You can focus on your friendships. When you’re single, you need your friends more than ever, particularly when you’re nursing a broken heart or have just been ghosted. When you’re single and not interested in dating, however, you need your friends 100 percent more. You really have the time to focus on your BFFs and you guys are now closer than ever. That’s pretty awesome.
  6. You have no expectations. You may tell yourself not to care but when you go on a first date, you have some kind of expectations. You at least want a second date out of the whole deal, if not a full-blown relationship. But when you just don’t care about love, you’re living without expectations, and you’re never hurt or disappointed.
  7. You’re experiencing new things. Of course relationship girls can travel and take up new hobbies but there’s something so motivating about taking time for yourself. You’re more interested in trying new things because it just means that much more.
  8. You’re much braver. You don’t have the comfort level of a live-in boyfriend to fall back on if you get fired or quit your job and so you can be much braver in your daily life. It’s just you, you’re living your best life, and you’re really going there.
  9. People are jealous of you. Everyone you know thinks you’ve found the secret to lifelong health and happiness. You kind of have and it’s super easy. You tell people you’ve just stopped dating, simple as that.
  10. People are dumbfounded. Sometimes you encounter some negativity and people ask you how you can possibly not care about finding love. Don’t you want a serious boyfriend? Don’t you want a ring on your finger and all that? You smile and tell them that just because you’re not actively looking for something right now doesn’t mean you never will. You’re just enjoying yourself and there’s nothing wrong with that.
