Little Boy Cries Tears Of Joy Over His First McDonald’s Post-Lockdown

I think I speak for all of us when I say that lockdown has been HARD. While we all know that staying in has been incredibly important when it comes to reducing the risks of contracting and spreading the illness that has killed hundreds of thousands of people around the world, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t sucked to have to give up on our everyday routines and comfort. That’s why the now-viral video showing a 9-year-old boy having his first post-lockdown McDonald’s is so damn relatable.

  1. Sometimes you just need a little pick-me-up. A mom named Wadi filmed her surprise for son Adam Bin Mohammad Irwan, who has autism, in a video that has since gone viral. She decided to treat him to his first McDonald’s since lockdown began in Singapore and his response was epic.
  2. His mom tried to conceal the food but Adam caught on quick. While Wadi put the McDonald’s food in a plastic bag, the smell was quick to give it away. While Adam initially believes his mom is playing a prank on him, he soon realizes that she really did hook him up with his favorite fast food and he begins to cry and hug her.
  3. Who wouldn’t cheer up at the sight of McDonald’s? Wadi bought Adam his favorite meal: chicken nuggets, french fries, and ice cream. That sounds like the perfect combination of sweet and savory and basically my ideal meal too. I feel Adam on this.
  4. There’s a reason for Adam’s extreme reaction. Wadi explained that her son’s crying over McDonald’s may seem like an “overreaction” but really it’s down to the fact that he has sensory sensitivity and mild autism. I don’t suffer from either of those things but I still get where Adam is coming from! Sometimes there’s nothing better than your favorite comfort foods when you haven’t had them for a while.
