A German woman who insists she could be the missing Madeleine McCann may actually get a chance to prove her claims after the McCann family reported OK’d a DNA test. Julia Wandelt took to Instagram earlier this week to point out what she believes are undeniable similiarities between herself and Madeleine McCann. But is she just another scam artist?

Madeleline McCann was only three years old when she went missing from a holiday apartment in Portugal on May 3, 2007. Her parents have been looking for her ever since, but the case has never been solved. Nevertheless, it has continued to dominate headlines for the past 15 years.

Julia Wandelt set up an Instagram account with the username @iammadeleinemccan that already has a million followers at the time of writing. And while Julia is 21 and Madeleine would only be 19, she still believes she could be the missing girl.

In one of her videos, Wandelt shows a freckle on her leg and a speck in her eye, similar to the ones Madeleine had. In another clip, she shows what she believes to be a resemblance between herself and Madeleine’s mom and dad, Kate and Gerry McCann.

Could Julia Wandelt be Madeleine McCann?

Wandelt admits she doesn’t remember being kidnapped as a child. In fact, she doesn’t have many memories from growing up. “I don’t remember being taken away. I mean, I don’t remember almost my entire childhood,” she claims.

And while it’s unlikely that Wandelt is actually McCann, the missing girl’s family wants to exhaust all options in the search for their daughter.

“The family are taking no chances, they are willing to look at all leads,” a source tells the Daily Star. “It is important they look at all of the factors, the girl does look similar. There’s no disputing that. If what she says is true, there is every chance it could be her. It all adds up.”

However, the McCanns haven’t yet confirmed or commented on this story.
