Man Tries To Abduct Barista At Drive-Thru In Terrifying Video Auburn WA Police Dept

The horrifying moment a man attempted to abduct a barista at a drive-thru window was captured on surveillance camera.

The incident, which took place just after 5 a.m. on Monday, January 16 at a coffee shop in Auburn, Washington, can clearly be seen in the video. A customer drives up and grabs the wrist of the female barista and tries to attach a zip tie to her as she hands him his change.
Thankfully, he was unsuccessful and drove off, dropping his change on the ground.

Police noticed the driver, who was in a Chevrolet Silverado, had a tattoo that read “Chevrolet” and used this to ask for tips to track him down. It didn’t take long for locals to spring into action and help authorities to do just that, per CBS News.

A suspect was arrested at his home in Auburn on Tuesday, January 17 thanks to help from locals, who provided “a number of tips.” The man’s name and photo have not yet been publicly released as the investigation continues. However, police searched his vehicle and found evidence linking him to the crime. Police applauded those who came forward to help find the culprit, praising the “overwhelming support from the community” they received in the aftermath of the incident.

KIRO-TV says the barista in question was working on her own when the man tried to abduct her. “They are in vulnerable positions because they’re usually controlling those spots by themselves at early hours in the morning when it’s dark outside,” Auburn police spokesperson Kolby Crossley said. “But this barista did an awesome job of protecting herself and fighting this person off.”
