As if you needed another reason to love Matthew McConaughey, he’s only gone and hosted a virtual bingo night for senior citizens living at Enclave at Round Rock Senior Living in Texas. Using Zoom to call out numbers to the players, the actor was joined by his wife, Camila Alves, as well as his mom and two of his three children, all of whom wanted in on the fun.

- The facility was thrilled to have McConaughey take part in the event. While it may seem odd that a major celebrity would get involved with a virtual senior bingo night, McConaughey seemed really stoked to be doing it, and so were the residents! “The generosity and kindness Matthew McConaughey and his family showed our residents was beautiful, but more importantly we were gifted with a humble message from his heart,” senior VP of sales and marketing at Spectrum Retirement William Swearingen told Good Morning America. “And for that, we will be forever grateful.”
- McConaughey even made small talk with the residents. It wasn’t all business on bingo night – McConaughey also talked to the seniors taking part about his family and even his favorite beverages. “Thank you to Matthew, his wife Camila, and his mom Kay for hosting our residents for a few rounds of virtual bingo!” Enclave posted on Facebook. “Our residents had a great time playing, and they loved talking with Matthew about his family heritage and his favorite drink.”
- More celebs should get involved like this. The coronavirus pandemic is far from over and until a good portion of the population is vaccinated, we all need to be staying home and socially distanced. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy virtual events like this from the safety of our homes. Seniors in particular are vulnerable to loneliness and would love to get some time with some of their favorite stars!
- This looked like so much fun! I bet it made the seniors’ day and probably their entire week! Good for Matthew McConaughey for giving back to the community and brightening up people’s day.
