Meghan Markle Straightening Her Hair Apparently Means She Wants To Be Kate Middleton TEDTalks

The media has long held a campaign of hatred and prejudice against Meghan Markle and despite she and Prince Harry leaving the United Kingdom, it doesn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon. Particular effort has been put into pitting her against Kate Middleton — I’m sorry, Catherine, the Princess of Wales — the wife of Prince William and future Queen of England.

Plenty of rubbish stories have been printed over the years about the pair, from false claims that Meghan made Kate cry over Charlotte’s dress on Meghan’s wedding day to intentionally negative posts that praised Kate for the same thing they panned Meghan for. However, the latest foray into insanity is taking things a step further, with new reports accusing Meghan of getting plastic surgery and straightening her hair to look more like Kate. Christ, it never ends.

This all kicked off because Meghan appeared via video link at photographer Milan Harriman’s TED Talk last weekend. In the video, she appeared with straightened hair and wore a sleeveless, neutral-colored dress. All in all, there was nothing remarkable about her appearance. However, royalists and racists on social media begged to differ.

Social media is obsessed with pitting Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton against each other

“PLASTIC SURGERY ALERT? Sad Meghan Markle wants to be Kate Middleton so bad,” one person commented. Another added: “OMG. Meghan Markle, who is jealous and obsessed with the Princess of Wales, is wearing hazel contact lenses to look like Kate.” A third simply stated, “She looks like she’s trying to look like Kate… that won’t happen.”

Given that Meghan Markle looked pretty much how she always does — poised and graceful and completely herself — the idea that she’s somehow trying to emulate Kate Middleton seems a bit laughable. Luckily, I’m not the only one who missed the train to Crazytown.

“Meghan didn’t have plastic surgery. It’s all about lighting, angles, and contouring. And hair straightening is something many black women do. It has nothing to do with ‘erasing all traces of origin.’ Also, white people need to shut up about black women’s hair,” one supporter pointed out.

Christ almighty. With relentless coverage like this, it’s no wonder Meghan Markle is skipping out on King Charles III’s coronation next month.
