A Mexican Resort Is Hosting A ‘Drunk Yoga’ Retreat So You Can Destress While You Get Buzzed

Life is stressful and we all need to practice self-care to keep our mental and emotional health in a good place. For some, that looks like heading out for a long run or doing some yoga and meditation; for others, it’s enjoying a glass of wine at the end of a long day. Why not do both at the same time by heading to Mexico for a Drunk Yoga retreat?

  1. Drunk Yoga is exactly what it sounds like. Founded by Eli Walker, Drunk Yoga combines classic yoga and meditation with a nice glass of wine to provide a relaxing and restoring experience unlike any other. Sounds good to me! Incidentally, the point isn’t to get drunk, it’s to experience “joy and empowerment.”
  2. Heading down to Mexico next month sounds like a great idea. Walker teamed up with CheapCaribbean to host a retreat at Haven Riviera Cancun in Mexico from February 20 – 23 and it’s going to be amazing. What’s better than sun, the beach, and all the wine and relaxation you can handle?
  3. There’s more than drunk yoga on offer. Not only will it include plenty of drunk yoga, it’ll also include astrology readings since Walker is a certified astrologist. “Eli will be your guide to finding your inner balance, hosting daily yoga and meditation classes as well as one-on-one birth chart readings,” the event description reads.
  4. The price you pay includes everything. Attending the retreat costs $899 per person and includes roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodation, yoga and specially-created cocktails, astrological readings, workshops, a copy of Walker’s book, and much more, according to Lonely Planet. Talk about a steal!
  5. This is a great taster session for those new to the yoga scene. Going to a full-on lengthy retreat can be a bit intimidating (or even a bit much) for some people, which is why Walker believes this retreat is different. “This retreat is for the ‘spiritually-curious’ folks who perhaps aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a full, 10-day vegan yoga and meditation retreat/cleanse, but are ready to dive a little deeper into understanding themselves and their relationship to the universe in a fun, pressure-free environment,” Walker told Lonely Planet. A full itinerary is available here.
  6. If you want to book a place, you’ll have to do it soon. Drunk Yoga is popular and the retreat takes a lot of planning, so you’ll need to be quick since registration is only open until January 31. You can find out more information on the CheapCaribbean website, and don’t forget to use code “DOYOU” when you register. Happy drunk yoga time!
