Mischa Barton’s Publicist Told Her To Sleep With Leonardo DiCaprio When She Was 19 And He Was 30

Mischa Barton claimed in a recently resurfaced interview that her former publicist advised her to sleep with Leonardo DiCaprio when she was only 19 and he was 30. Barton, now 37, was told getting with the “Titanic” actor would be a great boost for her career. However, she simply wasn’t interested in him.

While Mischa Barton’s fame was on the rise as she starred in “The O.C.,” her team believed a romance with Leonardo DiCaprio would provide her exposure she couldn’t get otherwise. Instead, she dated musician Cisco Adler, model James Abercrombie, and oil heir Brandon Davis.

An excerpt of Barton’s interview with Harper’s Bazaar in 2005, in which she made the revelations about DiCaprio, was shared on Twitter by a user who simply wrote, “This aged well.”

Mischa Barton was told dating Leonardo DiCaprio would be good for her career

The roundup of the interview by Female First stated: “In 2005, 19-year-old Mischa Barton disclosed that her publicist suggested she hook up with the actor to boost her image. The O.C. actress told Harpers & Queen (now known as Harpers Bazaar) that her old agent, reportedly Craig Schneider, urged her to get involved with DiCaprio. The suggestion came after Gisele Bündchen announced her split with the then-32-year-old actor.”

The story also claimed that Barton was absolutely “horrified” by the suggestion. “Isn’t Leo, like, 30 or something?” she asked.

The Twitter user who shared the post went on to point out something else amusing. While Mischa Barton never dated Leonardo DiCaprio, soon after that interview, he was linked to Blake Lively. Wonder if she got the same advice from her publicist?

DiCaprio, who’s now 48 years old, is said to be currently dating 19-year-old Israeli model Eden Polani. So far, “sources” have claimed the pair are just friends, with one telling People: “Leo and Eden just so happened to have been seated next to each other at the party, and were hanging in the same group. Just because Leo might be talking to or sitting with a girl doesn’t mean he’s dating her.” However, given Leo’s preference for younger women, it’s a pretty safe bet they’re together.
