Mom Falls To Her Death From Balcony After Opening Christmas Presents With Her Kids

A dedicated mom tragically lost her life on Christmas Day after falling from her fourth-floor balcony. Sharon Anne Daly-O’Dwyer, 51, had just finished opening presents with her kids when she decided to step outside on the balcony in Shepherd’s Bush, London to smoke a cigarette. However, a few minutes later, her kids heard a loud bang and ran out to find their mother had fallen to the ground below.

  1. Sharon’s daughter Taylor, 22, knew her mom had died. “I ran down to try and help her but it was pretty obvious she had died, she wasn’t breathing and her eyes were open,” Taylor told The Mirror. “I held her hand when they stopped the CPR and closed her eyes when they said they couldn’t do anymore. I gave her a kiss and said I love you.”
  2. The family was having a wonderfully peaceful and happy Christmas morning. Taylor went on to say that it was a “normal” Christmas prior to the horrific accident. “She was really happy with her presents,” she recalled. “She said she was going to go back to bed before making dinner but would just have a cigarette. We were inside for two minutes when we heard a bang.”
  3. It’s unclear how Sharon fell from the balcony, but police say there was nothing suspicious about the death. “Police were called to an address in Shepherd’s Bush, W12 at 10.09am on Friday, 25 December,” said a Met Police spokesperson in a statement to Metro. “Officers attended with London Ambulance Service and found a 51-year-old woman with injuries consistent with a fall from height. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her death is not being treated as suspicious.”
  4. A GoFundMe page has been started to help with costs. Started by Taylor’s best friend Georgie Dileo, the page aimed to raise £4,000 to give Sharon a proper funeral. To date, it’s raised more than £12,762 and rising.
