Mom Wakes Up Adult Daughter Every Morning By Licking Her ‘Like A Puppy’

A mother has admitted that she licks her adult daughter awake every morning “like a puppy.” Marcia, 68, and her 21-year-old daughter Alena were featured on TLC’s sMothered, a series which showcases unconventional and sometimes disturbingly close relationships between moms and daughters, but neither Marcia nor Alena think it’s all that weird.

  1. Alena is “definitely” Marcia’s best friend. Which is great! We tend to become closer to our parents as we get older, and if you were raised by a single parent, it makes sense that the bond there would be incredibly strong. However, why does licking have to enter the picture?
  2. It started because Alena wanted a puppy. As Marcia explains, “She kept pestering me for a puppy and I couldn’t get her a puppy, so I turned into the doggy. Alena tastes pretty good and all sweet, I just want to eat her all up.” I mean… this is just not right!
  3. Alena doesn’t mind it at all. In fact, she likes it! While a grown woman would likely think her mother licking her awake every morning is problematic and totally inappropriate, that’s not the case for Alena, who was adopted by Marcia when she was very young. “I love it when my Mamma licks me, it kind of makes me feel closer to her because we’re doing something funny and out of the ordinary. It’s a thing we do every single day,” Alena boasted.
  4. The fun doesn’t stop there! After Marcia licks Alena awake, the younger woman chases her mom all around the house as if she was a real puppy. This ritual is one that started because of Alena’s enzyme deficiency, which left her without much energy. “When Alena was very little she didn’t have much stamina, so I would say, ‘You can’t get me, you can’t get me,'” Marcia explained. “It was really a good thing to help her grow and it just continued.” Alena added, “When I catch my Mamma I do all my kissy-poos and I kiss her all up. She’s very kissable.”
  5. They don’t care if people don’t understand. “Some people don’t agree or they wonder what is wrong with her. I love the idea as she’s growing up of being able to do all those silly things,” Marcia said. “It’s getting a little tricky as she’s getting older, but still do all the same antics and we still play the same games and we have fun.” I guess that’s the important thing?
