Mystery Beast In Tree Turns Out To Be A Croissant

When a woman looked up into a tree in her neighborhood in Krakow, Poland, she immediately panicked. There appeared to be some sort of mysterious beast lurking in the branches. Freaking out, she called her local animal welfare office so that they could come out and rescue (or at least get rid of) the monster hanging out in there. Turns out, it was only a croissant.

  1. Everyone in the neighborhood was worried. As BBC News reports, it wasn’t just one woman who was losing her cool over the tree beast – pretty much everyone was scared. “People aren’t opening their windows because they’re afraid it will go into their house,” she reportedly said. Thankfully, there was no real danger. That is, unless you count maybe getting a stray crumb in your eye or something!
  2. Yes, this was a real thing. While you might think no one could possibly believe that a croissant in a tree could be mistaken for a potentially deadly beast, the Krakow Animal Welfare Society insists that the incident was genuine and that people really were scared and had no idea what it was. On the phone call, they asked the woman if it might be some kind of bird of pray and she responded that it could potentially be an iguana.
  3. The animal welfare officers went down there expecting a reptile. They figured the weather wasn’t great for the animal but that perhaps someone had either lost or purposely gotten rid of their pet. However, when they arrived on the scene, they soon realized that what was in the tree branch wasn’t an iguana at all or even a living animal. It was just a croissant someone probably threw out for the birds to eat and it got caught.
  4. All’s well that ends well, I guess! The organization got a good laugh out of the situation and continued to encourage people to call in should they have any concerns about an animal that might be in need of aid.
