If you were getting sick of 2020 and needed something to look forward to, you’re in luck. After what seems like forever and a day of waiting, Netflix has confirmed that Season 5 of Lucifer will hit the streaming service later this summer, more than 15 months after its initial debut there. Better late than never!
- Netflix revealed the news via a super hot video. They put together a video of the steamiest moments throughout Lucifer‘s first four seasons to make the announcement and I don’t think I’m alone in saying that I’m quite alright with that!
- Lucifer Season 5 will return with new episodes on August 21. And it sounds like the series is going to be better than ever. “In the stunning fifth season, the stakes are higher than ever,” says the official teaser. “Secrets will be revealed, beloved characters will die, and we’ll finally get an answer to the question, ‘Will they or won’t they?'” Ugh, yes please!
- Sadly, we won’t get all the episodes at once. Because Season 5 of Lucifer was expanded to contain 16 episodes instead of its previous 10, Netflix will be releasing them in two batches. That means the August drop will contain the first 8 of the season and there’s no word yet as to when the second half will be released. Chances are, given everything that’s going on, they haven’t even been filmed yet!
- This may not even be the final season of Lucifer. While the series was canceled by FOX after Season 3, Netflix picked it up for Season 4 and 5 and everyone thought for a while that was the end of it. However, series star Tom Ellis hinted that he wasn’t entirely against the idea of a Season 6, so watch this space because it may indeed happen. Again, it’s safe to say I’m not going to complain about that!
