Netflix Turned ‘The Floor Is Lava’ Into An Actual Game Show And It’s So Fun Netflix

Remember when you were kid, piling up the couch cushions and hopping from one piece of furniture to another while trying your hardest not to touch the floor? Well, that classic childhood game has now been turned into a real-life gameshow by Netflix aptly titled The Floor Is Lava and it’s way too much fun.

  1. This time, the floor really is lava. I mean, not really since it’s not millions of degrees and won’t melt you alive if you happen to fall into it, but contestants do want to make sure they don’t plunge into the bright red liquid “lava” below.
  2. Netflix describes the show as “Crystal Maze meets Total Wipeout meets Gladiators.” If that’s not enough of a description to let you know what you’re in for with The Floor Is Lava, I don’t know what would be. It’s an action-adventure series unlike any other and even watching it will make you feel like a kid again.
  3. So how does it actually work? According to a description on the Netflix website, “Teams compete to navigate rooms flooded with lava by leaping from chairs, hanging from curtains and swinging from chandeliers. Yes, really.” There are themed rooms, some with bedroom furniture, others with museum artifacts, some with outer space obstacles, and more. Contestants’ only goal is to not fall in the lava.
  4. There have to be some rules, of course. Host Rutledge Wood explains them as follows: You can use anything and everything in the room and for every one player that gets across, the team gets a point. The team with the most points wins $10,000, but if both teams have the same amount of points, it goes by who completed it in the fastest time. Oh, and don’t fall because duh, the floor is lava.
  5. I’m pretty sure this is the best game show ever. What are you waiting for? The Floor Is Lava is available to watch on Netflix now.
