Viewers Are Calling Netflix Crime Drama The Most Disturbing Thing They’ve Ever Seen Lifetime

Netflix hosts no shortage of horrifying true crime content, but viewers are calling one of its latest additions, Cleveland Abduction, one of the “most disturbing” they’ve ever seen. Just the trailer alone has been enough to get many people “hooked” on the story of the Ariel Castro kidnappings despite the fact that the movie is now seven years old.

  1. Cleveland Abduction focuses on the story of Michelle Knight. As one of Castro’s three victims to be imprisoned at his home in Ohio, Knight was the first to be kidnapped. She’s played by Taryn Manning in the film, which was made back in 2015. Knight was 21 at the time of her disappearance in August 2002.
  2. Two other women were also taken and imprisoned. Amanda Berry was 17 and was the second woman to be abducted in April 2003. She later gave birth to Castro’s child while still being held in the house. Gina DeJesus was only 14 when she went missing in April 2004 and became Castro’s final victim.
  3. Castro was eventually caught and sentenced to life in prison plus 1,000 years. A judge ruled that he would never have the chance for parole. Unfortunately, he took his own life only a month into his sentence, escaping true justice for his horrific crimes.
  4. Cleveland Abduction aims to show how the three women lived throughout their captivity. The three women were captured for nearly a decade before Berry was able to escape and alert the authorities. “Abducted and imprisoned, Michelle Knight finds the will to survive amid the most horrific and heartbreaking of circumstances in this true-crime drama,” the Netflix synopsis reveals.
