46-Year-Old New York Man Got 12-Year-Old Girl Pregnant Then Tried To Force Her Into An Abortion Westchester County DA

A 46-year-old New York man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison after he fathered a child with a 12-year-old girl. Pablo Dure, from Croton in Westchester County, is said to have tried to convince the girl to get an abortion when he found out about her pregnancy following two years of sexual abuse. Dure pleaded guilty to first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, which is a felony, and in addition to his prison sentence was given 15 years of post-release supervision.

  1. The victim, now a teenager, was devastated by the relationship. In an impact statement read out in court, the girl revealed that she had no idea how much Dure had been manipulating her until much later and that she truly believed she loved him. “I loved you, but that meant nothing to you,” she wrote in the statement.
  2. Dure attempted to get her to abort their child. It was this that greatly upset the victim and ultimately turned her against him. “Now I hate you because you wanted to kill [our daughter],” she said in the statement. The victim and Dure’s child is now two years old and was present at the courthouse during sentencing.
  3. The victim’s mother didn’t discover the abuse immediately. It wasn’t until the girl became pregnant and a DNA test was ordered that the extent of Dure’s abuse came to light. It’s unclear how Dure knew the girl and her family and was able to have such regular and intimate access to her.
  4. Dure apologized to the victim and her family in the courtroom. “There is not a single night that I don’t regret what I have done,” he told them in Spanish. The victim’s father was willing to offer an olive branch for the sake of the victim and her child and responded directly to Dure, saying: “You’re going to get my forgiveness. Those precious children, I’m not going to teach them hate.”
