Nose Hair Extensions Are The Beauty Trend Literally No One Asked For

Beauty trends come and go, but some are stranger and more unnecessary than others. Case in point: nose hair extensions. While most of us would be horrified to have excess hairs sticking out of our nostrils, a few Instagram beauty bloggers have decided it would be extra fun to create this horrifying look, and if nothing else, it will give you a good laugh.

  1. Crazier things have happened, I suppose. I mean, I can’t think of any off the top of my head except for maybe “devil lips” or that weird thing where people were gluing pom poms to their faces. It’s hard to imagine a time when nose hair extensions would be appropriate to don in public, but what do I know? Maybe I need a more adventurous spirit!
  2. The trend started on Instagram, of course. According to The Sun, it was influencer @gret_chen_chen who was the first to try out this look. It was so unique and hilarious that it wasn’t long before others followed suit, including @sophiehannah and @taytay_xx, both of whom are incredibly successful. In fact, the #nosehairextensions hashtag on Instagram now has over 500 posts, so it’s clear that this caught on more than anyone probably would have expected.
  3. It may not be the most hygienic look. While it might be tempting take part in the nose hair extension trend since it’s so fun, it’s probably a good idea to hold off for health reasons. According to the Cleveland Clinic, nose hair exists for a very specific reason: to catch dust and dirt and keep bacteria from making its way to your lungs. While putting in the nose hair extensions is NBD, removing the eyelash glue used to adhere them could rip out some of your actual nose hair, leaving you more vulnerable to infections. Yikes!
  4. That being said, we can’t stop you… If you did want to give this look a go – say at your next party if there’s a meme theme happening or something – it probably won’t harm you to try it once. However, it’s probably not a great look long-term.
