It’s Really Not A Big Deal If Your Boyfriend Watches Porn

Why do so many of us get up in arms when we find out that our boyfriends watch sex online? While some women couldn’t care less, others are outraged and offended at the very thought. At the end of the day, is it really that big of a deal? Not really — here’s why:

  1. It’s not cheating. He’s not even touching or talking to another woman, so the fact that some consider this cheating is almost laughable. Sure, he’s looking, but don’t you look, too? Sex movies might be more graphic, but if you’re not turning your head during your favorite HBO show sex scenes, you’re seeing a little something too.
  2. It’s healthy. Masturbation, that is — well, to a point. Sure, it can become an obsession, but for most men, it’s just normal. It helps him relieve stress and pressure. Unless he shows signs of sex addiction, it’s actually good for him stimulate his mind and his body.
  3. It gives you a break. As gross as it may sound, there is a reason for the saying ‘rubbed raw.’ Men are wired to be more easily aroused than women. Sometimes you’re just not in the mood, and that’s OK.
  4. It can improve your sex life. You don’t want to be treated like a erotic star, but he can learn a thing or two from watching. Just like you learn new moves from Cosmo, he applies his study to the bedroom.
  5. It opens conversation. Do you really want him to have to lie to you about it? It’s so much better if he can be upfront and honest. Not only will he be able to explain his attraction to sex on the internet, but he’ll also be able to talk about what he likes and dislikes when it comes to sex.
  6. He doesn’t prefer it to the real thing. If your boyfriend stops wanting to have sex with you, that’s a pretty big issue. However, I don’t know any man who prefers watching sex to actually having sex. It’s more of a filler — something to satisfy his needs when you’re not in the mood.
  7. Women do it, too. While fewer women than men watch sex online, there are plenty of women who do. Women are typically more literal, choosing to pick up the latest Cosmopolitan or dive into Fifty Shades of Grey. Men are visual beings, making sex online their typical choice.
  8. It shows you’re secure. Be confident with your own moves under the sheets and don’t be threatened by the unrealistic erotic stars on his computer. His interest in watching sex online isn’t a reflection on you or how you perform in the bedroom.
