If you’re a sucker for beautiful beaches, incredible scenery, vibrant people, and delicious food, I’ve got the perfect location for your next vacation when this major international nightmare is over. You need to head to Palawan in the Philippines, which has just been named the best island in the world by readers of Travel + Leisure. It does really look awe-inspiring!
- Palawan topped the list of 25 amazing islands. As part of Travel + Leisure‘s World’s Best competition, the publication asked readers to rate their favorite islands and Palawan came out at the top, with the Greek islands of Páros and Mílos in the second and third spots while Sri Lanka and Koh Lanta, Thailand filled out the Top 5.
- The best island really does have it all. Palawan came in at the top of the list because it had the readers’ favorite beaches, food, friendliness, natural attractions, sights, and activities. If you’re looking for an all-in-one vacation that will be relaxing yet lively, this is obviously the place to go.
- Palawan wasn’t the only Philippines island to make the Best Island list. Boracay is also there in the 14th position, so that’s well worth visiting too if you’re in the country. Hey, what better way to maximize your experience than with a little island-hopping?
- However, it was Palawan that won over travelers’ hearts. As one visitor gushed, “The landscape and scenery are just gorgeous. It offers the most beautiful beaches, resorts, and scenery anywhere.” I’ve never had the privilege of going myself, but from the pictures that definitely seems to be the case. In addition to the beautiful white beaches, there are also incredible limestone cliffs and mountains that make you feel like you’re in another world. Plus, snorkeling!
- When we can all safely travel again, I know where I’m going. Palawan is not only officially the best island but it’s also definitely going to be my next travel destination. I can’t wait!
