Paparazzi Tried To Sell A Naked Photo Of Sia So She Posted It Online For Free

Celebrities are constantly scrutinized, followed, and talked about. They’re always under the microscope. However, despite her huge celebrity status, Sia manages to stay a bit under the radar. That’s why it’s such a surprise then when some jerk violates her privacy to take naked pictures of her. It’s even worse when he goes to sell them. Rather than being too down, Sia decided to strike back by leaking her own nude on Instagram. Here’s how it all went down.

  1. The photo was taken without her consent. Let’s just lay this out there: some jerk went to where Sia was staying with his camera and decided it was okay to take pictures of her naked. She didn’t consent to these pictures; they were taken against her will. He’s a gross jerk for violating her privacy like he did. Women deal with enough violations on a daily basis from catcalls and harassment—she didn’t need this crap too.
  2. The photographer tried to sell the pictures. Not only did he take the pictures without her consent, he also tried to make money off of what he took. WTF?  There wasn’t just that one picture that she posted, either. There were actually 15 pictures that this dude was selling. Gross. Not only is it incredibly intrusive, it’s illegal (as it should be).
  3. Sia posted one of the nudes herself on Twitter. This is the best part of all. Instead of allowing that to happen, Sia fought back by posting one of the pictures on her Twitter. The exact post was: “Someone is apparently trying to sell naked photos of me to my fans. Save your money, here it is for free. Every day is Christmas!” At this point, there are almost 200k retweets. She’s such a badass.
  4. This was inspiring AFI mean, way to make a really crappy situation into an empowering one! It’s still not ideal, but she did the best she could. Sia’s super inspirational. I don’t know that I could pull the trigger like that and post my own nude. She’s a role model for girls out there. The message is to stick it to ‘em even when it may be difficult. Don’t let anyone profit from what wasn’t theirs in the first place.
  5. She’s normally privacy-centered. The irony of all of this is that Sia wears wigs to conceal her face. She sometimes has other people go on stage for her while she sings behind the scenes. Glamour said: “By wearing a wig, she distances herself from the image of modern-day celebrities and keeps herself free from the physical criticism that all celebrities on social media are regularly attacked with.” She’s a behind-the-scenes gal, so it sucks that something so private became so public.
  6. Sia’s just great anyway. Did you know that Sia’s in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction? She got sober and then was able to make music. She’s a super resilient lady. I’m not surprised that she fought back the way she did. Not to mention her songs are just absolutely fabulous. She’s most known for “Chandelier” and “Elastic Heart,” both carrying powerful messages.
  7. She turned a bad situation into an epic one. This situation could have gone so many ways. Sia could have been absolutely devastated and done nothing at all. She could have tried to fight against him with the law, but they could’ve not found anything. There are so many storylines. However, hers went the way of power. She owned her naked butt and made her perpetrator look like a total fool. She really turned an awful situation around.
  8. This guy must feel like an idiot. I don’t know how he thought this was going to end. There was no way it was going to end well because he couldn’t have stayed anonymous. His identity may not be public yet, but if it ever is he’ll catch so much heat. Regardless, he must feel stupid because Sia just owned him. She took away his business and made him look like the damn fool that he is.
  9. She promoted her new album in the tweet. This is kind of a side note, but it’s also relevant. In Sia’s tweet of her nude photo she included the name of her new album “Every Day Is Christmas.” It’s Sia, so the album is probably fabulous. I mean. there’s a song called “Puppies Are Forever,” so you know it’s good.
  10. It’s still awful that this had to happen. Sure, we can definitely celebrate the badassery that is Sia’s nude Twitter posting, but we can’t forget how truly messed up this situation is. This woman had her privacy and dignity violated by a complete (creepy) stranger. It’s so unfortunate that she had to deal with the violation, I imagine it was wildly traumatizing. I could see her finding out and being so upset. Fortunately, she was able to turn things around a bit.
