Parents Arrested After The Body Of Their Young Son Is Found In Their Freezer After 2 Years

A Virginia couple has been arrested after police discovered the body of their young son stored in their freezer. Kassceen Weaver, 49, and Dina D. Weaver, 48, were charged with failing to render aid to a child and conspiracy to conceal a body after the remains of Eliel Adon Weaver, who was said to be under the age of five at the time of his death, was discovered, WTVR reports.

Chesterfield Police

  1. Police were tipped off to the body’s presence. While it’s unclear who called in the tip, Chesterfield Police were horrified when they discovered Eliel’s body. This prompted a deeper investigation that eventually led to the arrest of the boy’s parents.
  2. Eliel’s body could have been in the freezer for more than two years. According to Chesterfield Police Major, Mike Louth, forensics teams and autopsy experts believe that Eliel didn’t die recently. “It’s taken a little bit of time to get us to the point right here just for the fact that this isn’t your typical type of investigation,” he explained. “We have human remains that had been in a freezer for approximately a year and a half to two years. So you know, we needed to have an autopsy done, and they worked really well with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. They brought in some specialists, some forensic anthropologists to help us out on this.”
  3. The Weavers were Eliel’s custodial parents. While DNA proved that Dina was the boy’s biological mother, it’s not yet known if Kassceen was his biological father. Nevertheless, they were raising him together and meant to be looking out for his well-being. “This is the first time I’ve seen anything like this. It’s a heartbreaking case to observe,” Louth said. “It’s a difficult case for anybody to have to work.”
  4. Kassceen faces additional charges unrelated to Eliel’s death. He’s been charged with domestic assault and malicious wounding of Dina Weaver, according to police. Another child living in the house has since been placed into foster care.
