People Who Have A Fear Of Failure Often Use These 10 Phrases

We all fear failing from time to time, but if the words coming out of your mouth are more negative than positive, your fear of failure could be holding you back. You might not even realize that you’ve got a fear of failure that’s taking over your life and bashing your self-confidence. To get on top of it, and the negative voice in your head, here are 10 phrases commonly used by people who have a fear of failure. If you spot yourself saying them, it’s time to nip your fear in the bud!

1. “I’m Not Right For The Job.”

When you get an opportunity to do something, like snag your dream job, do you get swamped by negative thoughts like “I’m not right for the job” before even learning about it or finding out more about how it matches your skill set? Okay, wait a minute. You could be closing doors to opportunities that could turn your life around and make you happier! Before saying you’re not right for something, do more research – you might find that you are.

2. “I Could Never Do That.”

Another way in which a fear of failure could shut down opportunities and amazing experiences is if you don’t think you’re experienced/smart/confident enough to achieve something. But that’s just the negative voice in your head telling you things that don’t have to be true. You get to decide if you’re up for a challenge. Remember, people with less experience, confidence, and intelligence than you have achieved great things.

4. “I Don’t Want More Disappointment.”

A fear of failure can spring up because of a pattern of being disappointed. This causes you to fear attracting more letdowns in your life, so you close yourself off to new experiences. But, not every experience is going to trash your confidence or make you feel that nothing ever goes right. That would literally be impossible. Something good has to happen – believe it!

5. “What If I Suck?”

Those negative “What if?” thoughts can be so destructive because they get stuck in a loop in your head. You might fear, “What if I suck? What if I fail and look like a fool?” They go around and around in your head, causing you to fear doing anything. Challenge them with positive thoughts, like “What if I’m a raving success?” Balance out the negatives and gain some perspective.

6. “It’s Too Much Pressure.”

Maybe one of the big things you fear about trying something new is that it’s going to make you stressed, take more of your time and energy, and so on. But how do you know unless you try? What you might be fearing could actually be totally doable. Give yourself a bit of a confidence boost, reminding yourself that you can take it in your stride.

7. “I’m Not Ready.”

Not being ready is a huge hurdle many people fear. You might say “no” to new opportunities or chances to grow because you’re simply not ready. Maybe you want to feel more stable in your relationship before you take that job in Paris or you want to be more stable in your career before taking on an exciting side hustle. That’s fine, but if you’re always using this excuse, you’re stunting your growth. Things are never going to be 100 percent perfect and waiting for you. Truth!

8. “That’s Impossible.”

Optimists will remind you that impossible spells “I’m possible.” But if you’re listening to the negative voice in your head, it could be telling you otherwise. Maybe it’s saying that your new business startup idea is stupid and won’t work, but it’s just a fear and you can’t let it take over. To deal with it, try getting more facts about how you can make your wildest dreams a reality. Then you’ll see that you can turn what you fear is impossible into doable action.

9. “I’ve Never Done It Before.”

Someone who’s afraid of failure might use the reasoning that they shouldn’t try something they’ve never done before because they won’t know what to do or how to make it a success. Okay, it kinda makes sense, but nothing great ever came from being chained to your comfort zone. You might think the unknown is a huge risk, but you could be risking unhappiness by not trying anything new.

10. “I Don’t Have The Resources.”

Resources, like time and energy, are important things you need to invest in a new adventure. Although they’re important, thinking of them as limited is going to manifest more of the same negative thinking, like that you don’t have time. Yes, I’m talking about the Law of Attraction because it works! If you see things from the point of view of abundance, you’ll create more opportunities for yourself. You’ll find more space in your schedule and day for things that bring you joy.

11. “I Don’t Want To Be Judged.”

You might be avoiding trying new things because you’re scared people will say negative things about you. But here’s the thing: people will always have something to say. And even if they do say something, what you’re choosing to do with your life has nothing to do with them. So, don’t let that stop you from reaching new heights. And if you fail and embarrass yourself? You’ll have a greater story to tell than the person sitting on the sidelines too afraid to try.
