Pepsi’s New Hot Cocoa-Flavored Soda Is The Winter Beverage You Never Knew You Needed

Pepsi’s New Hot Cocoa-Flavored Soda Is The Winter Beverage You Never Knew You Needed Pepsi Co.

Just in time for the holidays, Pepsi has decided to wade into the Christmas drink game by unveiling a Hot Cocoa-flavored cola. Yes, Pepsi “Cocoa” Cola is a thing now, and it has notes of cola (duh), chocolate, and marshmallow. If that sounds weird to you, you’re not alone, but trust me on this — I think it actually kinda works (at least in theory).

  1. It’s way better than Pepsi Apple Pie. Cola has a very distinct flavor that doesn’t mix well with just anything. Pepsi Apple Pie was a great novelty product but definitely not the best the brand has come out with. The Hot Cocoa flavor, on the other hand, could be a total winner.
  2. It does add an extra bit of sweetness. Pepsi is already kinda sweet as it is, and adding in a hot cocoa element really heightens that. This can be a great thing if you’re someone who loves sugary drinks (and it’s Christmas, so what better time to indulge?), and as Delish notes, it would go great in an ice cream float.
  3. It’s not necessarily available just yet. Pepsi’s hot cocoa-flavored soda isn’t on store shelves just yet. In fact, it’s a bit of a prototype flavor out of the Pepsi Test Kitchen, with the brand promising that if the tweet got 2,021 retweets in honor of next year, they’ll put the soda out later this winter. That milestone has already been surpassed, however, so it looks to be a sure thing!
  4. If you’re not convinced yet, just give it a chance. “There is nothing more classic than hot cocoa on a winter day, but this year has been anything but typical. So why not bring together the delicious taste of a Pepsi with the delicious, wintery taste of chocolate and marshmallow and bring some unexpected joy to our fans this seasons?” said Todd Kaplan, vice president of marketing at Pepsi. “We are confident we nailed Pepsi “Cocoa” Cola and cant’ wait to get this in the hands of cola fans this winter.”
