PETA Urges Women To Go On Sex Strike Against Men Who Eat Meat

Infamous animal welfare organization PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has urged women to go on sex strike against male partners who eat meat in an effort to convince them to go vegan. They claim that doing so could be a turning point that gets men to give up their carnivorous ways once and for all.

  1. PETA believes their sex strike would be revolutionary. According to The Telegraph, PETA claims that women going on sex strike against meat-eating men could “save the world” and at the same time put an end to “toxic masculinity.” Sure, sounds realistic.
  2. Men’s love of meat is a serious problem. At least according to PETA Germany’s Daniel Cox. “We all know them, the suburban fathers with beer bottles and barbecue tongs sizzling 70-cent sausages on their 700 euro grill,” he said. “The courgette added by the visitor is eyed with suspicion and only reluctantly tolerated. The fact that Germany’s ‘grill masters’ believe they have to prove their masculinity to themselves and their fellow species through their consumption of meat is not only to the detriment of the animals, however.”
  3. It’s not just animals that suffer from meat-eating. Not only are we killing millions of innocent animals, but we’re also destroying the environment in the process. “Now there is scientific proof that toxic masculinity also harms the climate. Therefore, a hefty meat tax of 41% for men would be appropriate,” Cox continued. Therefore, PETA is sure that “a ban on sex or procreation for all meat-eating men would also be purposeful in this context.” (For the record, the 41% proposed references research published in Plos One which found men create 41% more greenhouse gas emissions than women due to their love of meat.)
  4. Needless to say, PETA and their proposed sex strike is causing serious backlash. Conservative MP Alicia Kearns discussed the proposal on LBC Radio, saying: “It just feeds into all the worst narratives of the ’90s that women use sex, it’s not something they enjoy, that they should use it as a tool against men. It’s also incredibly focused on straight relationships.” Not only that, but it completely ignores the fact that women do indeed eat meat as well.

Given that PETA loves to make shocking and outlandish statements/proposals, this sex strike isn’t necessarily shocking, but it is pretty ridiculous and cheapens the very real arguments against eating so much meat.
