‘Pistachio’ Hydrangeas Are The Multicolored Blooms Missing From Your Garden

Now that we’re all spending a lot more time at home, it makes sense that we want to make our living spaces nicer both indoors and out. If you’re lucky enough to have a back yard or any outside space to call your own, chances are you’ve started your own little garden. Even if you think you’ve reached the max number of plants you can fit in, you’ll want to make room for these “pistachio” hydrangeas.

  1. Who doesn’t love a hydrangea? The flowering plant, which is native to Asia and the Americas, comes in nearly 75 varieties, making it one of the most beautiful diverse plants out there. There are no shortage of shades to choose from, but “pistachio” hydrangeas have one of the most beautiful color combos out there, I think.
  2. The “pistachio” hydrangea is technically known as Hydrangea Macrophylla Horwack. However, it gets its more common name because of its pink and green blooms which resemble, perhaps obviously, a pistachio in its shell. Some of the blooms are blue and white as well, with the shades sort of melting into one another in a really beautiful way.
  3. They last a really long time. “Pistachio” hydrangeas, like other hydrangeas, will bloom from spring all the way through fall, meaning you get months and months of their gorgeousness to enjoy.
  4. They’re great for gardens without a ton of space. While hydrangeas can grow quite large, the “pistachio” variety is quite a compact shrub, and at maturity it will reach a height of three feet maximum and a width of three to four feet. While you will need to make a bit of room to accommodate them, something tells me it will be worth your while.
  5. Plant them to the east of your house if possible. This is because they enjoy sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon. Better yet, if your garden/back yard face the east, you’re in business!
