Rachel McAdams Wants To Reprise Regina George Role In ‘Mean Girls’ Sequel

Rachel McAdams Wants To Reprise Regina George Role In ‘Mean Girls’ Sequel Paramount Pictures

Mean Girls may have come out a whopping 16 years ago, but it’s still a classic in 2020. It’s hilarious, way too true to life, and insanely quotable, which is just part of what makes it so great. I always wished there was a follow-up movie, and it seems like I’m not alone in that. Even Rachel Adams wants to reprise her role as Regina George in a Mean Girls sequel and I’ve never wanted anything more.

  1. McAdams brought up the possibility of a Mean Girls sequel during a live stream. As part of the Heroes of Health: COVID-19, McAdams was asked which character she’d love to play again and of course Regina was at the top of her list. “I always want to go back and do all of them again,” she said. “You really fall in love with them. I mean, it would be fun to play Regina George later in life and see where life took her after Mean Girls.”
  2. I’m all about seeing the women 16 years later. A Mean Girls sequel that followed up with the characters 16 years down the line, perhaps as they were dealing with their own teen daughters’ dynamics, would be pretty incredible. Have any of them changed? Have they doubled down on their BS? Are they all friends now but then horrified by seeing how their own teenage daughters treat each other?
  3. McAdams has wanted a reunion all along, and she’s not alone. All the way back in 2016, McAdams told E! that while the cast “got to have a photo-shoot a couple of years ago,” but “it wasn’t enough.” Even Lindsay Lohan said during an appearance on Lights Out with David Spade that she was all about a Mean Girls sequel (or at least a proper reunion). “I wanted to come back with a Mean Girls 2 with the same cast, work with Tina Fey, and the whole crew again,” she said. “That was really what I wanted, I was excited to do that. But that’s all in their hands, really.”
  4. I think I speak for us all when I say “Mean Girls 2, please happen!” Seriously, how great would that be?
