Sagittarius Compatibility: The Zodiac Romantic Matches, Ranked

One of the most romantic and easy-going signs in the zodiac (until you get on their nerves), Sagittarius usually has no problem finding a date. But this headstrong yet adventurous sign, who is born between November 22 and December 21, isn’t a great match for everyone. Read on to find out which signs make a good partner for the zodiac’s resident traveler, and those whose compatibility with Sagittarius is pretty much nil.

  1. Gemini (May 21 – June 20) Sagittarius and Gemini are two peas in a pod and have great compatibility! Though one is a fire sign and the other is an air sign, they tend to crave the same things in life. Both love adventure, freedom, and the chance to discover something new. In this relationship, there will be few disagreements about how to have fun! Both signs know how to give each other the space they need while still showing their love and affection. It’s a match made in heaven!
  2. Leo (July 23 – August 22) Like Sagittarius, Leo is a fire sign. Therefore, these two are just able to connect at a close level. They often value the same things and approach situations in the same way. While both can be fiery, Leo is the type of sign who will do anything to make their partner happy. And Sagittarius also loves to charm and impress their SO. Both love to please their loved ones, which is enough for them to overcome those hot tempers. But it goes without saying that there will be no shortage of passion in this relationship!
  3. Aquarius (January 20 – February 18) Aquarius and Sagittarius have a similar vibe, which makes them so great as romantic partners. Both love having the freedom to be themselves and run their own lives. They are also both curious about the world and love to have adventures. Neither is likely to feel trapped or controlled in this relationship since both parties understand how to love without being needy or possessive.
  4. Aries (March 21 and April 19) When Aries and Sagittarius come together, there are bound to be some explosive arguments. Both signs are dominant and love to lead. However, they are also similar enough to understand each other. They can get on each other’s level and understand where the other person is coming from, even if they don’t agree. Both signs are protective of their loved ones, spontaneous, and a little reckless. They make great friends, which is the foundation of any healthy relationship. The compatibility is there with Sagittarius, but it’s not a guaranteed winner.
  5. Libra (September 23 – October 23) Libra and Sagittarius have one major trait in common: they are both romantics. Together, they are the type of couple who loves PDAs, romantic dates, and surprises that make your heart melt. Libra tends to be more level-headed than Sagittarius, and may not crave travel and adventure quite so much. But their differences often result in the perfect balance.
  6. Capricorn (December 22 – January 19) Being a practical and rational earth sign, Capricorn is quite different from Sagittarius. These two tend to approach situations very differently, with Sagittarius swept up by emotion and Capricorn using their logical reasoning. They’re not the best pairing, but they’re also not the worst. They can learn a lot from each other if the chemistry is there. Sagittarius can teach Capricorn how to let loose, while also learning how to be more disciplined.
  7. Taurus (April 20 – May 20) Another earth sign, Taurus won’t make the best match for Sagittarius because their personalities tend to oppose each other. Taurus is down-to-earth and materialistic, while Sagittarius is a wanderer with a spiritual nature. Still, Taurus is a versatile sign, making them a good fit for a strong and dominant fire sign like Sagittarius. If Taurus is willing to bend a little, things could take off for these two and they could have major compatibility with Sagittarius.
  8. Pisces (February 19 – March 20) Pisces and Sagittarius do have a few things in common. Both signs are emotional and love the idea of being in love. However, Pisces’ sensitivity ultimately becomes their undoing. Sagittarius is a bold sign who doesn’t always have empathy for others. They’re likely to say things that can hurt Pisces’ feelings, and then get irritated when Pisces gets upset.
  9. Cancer (June 21 – July 22) Cancer is known as the most sensitive sign in the zodiac. So naturally, being in a relationship with a bold and reckless sign isn’t the best idea. Along with feeling hurt by Sagittarius’ words, Cancer craves routine and stability in a relationship. They are nurturers whose lives revolve around the home. So Sagittarius is likely to feel like they’re stuck in a rut with this sign. At the same time, Cancer may resent Sagittarius’ craving for independence.
  10. Virgo (August 23 – September 22) Try as they might, Virgo and Sagittarius rarely manage to see eye to eye. Unfortunately, these two signs are stark opposites. Sagittarius loves to spice it up while Virgo thrives on having a routine. Virgo stays in control of their emotions while Sagittarius loses their cool. Sagittarius loves surprises and Virgo hates them. While Virgo is all work and no play, Sagittarius lives life to the fullest. And sadly, the one thing they do have in common—their honesty—tends to cause major arguments between them.
  11. Scorpio (October 23 – November 21) Scorpio is the worst partner for Sagittarius. These two have differences that drive each other up the wall, making it very difficult for them to get along. Scorpio tends to feel threatened by Sagittarius’ need for independence in a relationship. This leads the water sign to feel resentful, which in turn aggravates Sagittarius. Additionally, both signs are prone to fiery emotions and dominating personas. While anything is possible, it’s unlikely that they can find harmony in their relationship.
