Scarlett Johansson Claims Having A Toddler Is Like Being In An ‘Emotionally Abusive Relationship’

Scarlett Johansson loves being a mom to her two kids, for the most part. However, it hasn’t always been easy raising her 8-year-old daughter Rose with ex Romain Dauriac and 1-year-old son Cosmo with husband Colin Jost. In fact, she claims that trying to get through the troubling toddler years is akin to “being in an emotionally abusive relationship.”

  1. Scarlett Johansson opened up about parenting kids on “The Skinny Confidential” podcast. Chatting with hosts Lauryn and Michael Bosstick, the actress remembered just how difficult life was when her daughter became a toddler.
  2. The terrible twos were just the beginning. “I remember my daughter when she was two, I said, ‘This is great, I don’t know what everybody is talking about,’ and then she turned three and it’s like being in an emotionally abusive relationship,” Johansson shared.
  3. There’s just no reasoning with a 3-year-old. Scarlett Johansson said that when Rose turned three, there was no reasoning with her and her mood swings became out of control. “Very intense emotional swings and adamant and like, it’s just crazy. And, also these hugs mood swings, constant mood swings,” she recalled. When kids are in a heightened emotional state, there’s nothing you can do to talk them down, which is challenging as a parent.
  4. Meanwhile, her son is still in the “so lovely” stage of being too young to cause much trouble. “Those poor little guys, I feel bad for them, it must be a lot…you’re like up and down constantly,” she said. “They’re so cute. They sit there and they love you and then that’s it and you just get love from them.” However, given the fact that it’s only a couple short years before he reaches toddlerhood, chances are she’ll have the same troubles to contend with in no time. She should enjoy the quiet while she can!
