Why You Shouldn’t Wear Makeup On Your First Date

Do you dare to go bare-faced the first time you go out with a guy? If not, I’m here to change your mind. First dates are all about making a good impression but that doesn’t mean you have to be dolled up like Kylie Jenner to get the guy. Getting all glammed up and contouring the hell out of your cheekbones is fun sometimes, but here’s why you should put the lipstick and foundation down when you head out:

  1. It builds confidence. Do you know how much of a badass you have to be to not wear makeup on a date, especially a first date? Our society tells women they should be glam from head to toe to get a guy’s attention, but you can’t rely on makeup to make you feel good about yourself. Being confident starts from within. If you can meet a guy for the first time with completely bare skin, you’ll exude the kind of confidence that most men just can’t get enough of.
  2. He’s bound to see you without it eventually anyway if you end up together. If the first date goes well, there’ll probably eventually be a second, a third, a fourth, and so on. At some point, the two of you will become so comfortable around each other that you won’t even think twice about washing your makeup off in front of him. If he’s bound to see you without it at some point, he might as well get a peek at what your bare skin looks like ahead of time.
  3. It’s a waste of time. Getting ready for a date is stressful enough. You have to pick out the perfect outfit and make sure your hair is styled flawlessly. If you decide not to wear makeup, that’s just one less thing you have to spend your time fussing over.
  4. You avoid any potentially embarrassing situations. Wearing makeup means there’s the possibility that something will go wrong with it. Can you imagine how embarrassing it would be if you had lipstick on your teeth the entire night and your date was too afraid to tell you? Or, what if you lean in to give him a big hug and accidentally smear makeup all over his shirt? The solution to all of this is to not wear makeup at all. Problem solved!
  5. No more touch-ups. One of the worst parts about makeup is it needs to be touched up after a certain point. You might feel comfortable powdering and blotting your nose in front of your date, but some guys find this to be annoying and disrespectful. If you’re not wearing any makeup, you won’t have to worry about maintaining it throughout the night. You can just sit there and look naturally beautiful the entire time!
  6. You’ll know he’s attracted to the real you. Makeup can enhance your natural beauty, but it also has the ability to tweak your features to make you look more chiseled and svelte. Some guys think makeup is nothing but a big facade and they’d much rather see a girl’s natural appearance on a date. If you show up with bare skin and he’s still interested in you, you’ll know that he’s attracted to your true beauty from the inside out.
  7. Too much makeup (or the wrong type) can age you. Some makeup shades and brands don’t always agree with your skin color and skin type. Wearing foundation that’s too dark can make you look way older than you are, and some products look completely different when they’re under certain lights. To make sure you look youthful and gorgeous, just skip out on wearing makeup entirely.
  8. A good guy will appreciate you more. You shouldn’t wear makeup because you think guys expect it. A good guy will actually appreciate you a lot more if you show up au naturel. Showing off your bare skin is sexy, and any guy will feel honored to be basking in all of your natural glory!
  9. Going bare is in. You’re probably so used to wearing makeup that you haven’t even given yourself a chance to love your bare skin. Going makeup-free and showing off all of your flaws is a trend we should all embrace. Bare is beautiful!
  10. He might prefer a more natural look. Although the media shows women heavily made-up all the time, this isn’t the look that a lot of guys are attracted to. Some guys are actually turned off by girls who wear a lot of makeup in real life. The layers of foundation, powder, blush, highlighter, and contour can be seen as very excessive. I’m certainly not saying you should tone down your look to impress someone, but it’s easy to get carried away with all of the makeup and end up turning a guy off at the same time. Just be you and you’ll look amazing.
