“Signs” You Should Get Back With Your Ex That Are Really Just Coincidences

You don’t need a sign from the universe to tell you whether or not you should get back together with your ex. You need your own heart and mind to make that decision (and generally, you know the right choice already). That’s why you should never try to convince yourself that these mere coincidences are massive “signs” that a reunion is in the cards, because they really aren’t:

  1. You ran into him. If you two live in the same town, running into him at a restaurant isn’t that big of a deal. It doesn’t mean that you two are destined to be together. It just means that you enjoy the same types of food.
  2. You had a class together. If it turns out that he’s taking the same college course as you, or that he’s in the same exercise class as you, don’t freak out. Instead of using the opportunity to get back together with him, you can use it to finally get over him. You might be able to get the closure you’ve been hoping for.
  3. He popped up on social media. If you’re friends with him on Facebook and Instagram, you’re going to see his posts. What else would you expect? Seeing a gorgeous picture of him doesn’t mean you need to start dating him again. However, it might mean that you need to delete him from your accounts if you ever want to get over him.
  4. You had a dream about him. You dream about the things that are on your mind in the middle of the night. After a breakup, it’s normal to miss your ex, which means you’ll probably end up having a few intense dreams about him. They’re perfectly normal. They aren’t trying to guide your “real life” decisions.
  5. He wrote a vague status. If he posts song lyrics on Twitter, they aren’t necessarily directed toward you. Even if they are, it doesn’t mean he wants to get back together. He’s trying to heal from the breakup, just like you are, so of course you’re on his mind.
  6. You butt dialed him. If your phone accidentally calls him, it’s just a coincidence. Your phone isn’t trying to tell you anything. After all, your ex was the person you talked to the most, so his name would be at the top of your “recently called” list.
  7. You heard “your song.” The universe won’t tell you to get back with your ex by playing “your song” on the radio. Even if you hear a new song that explains your situation perfectly, it doesn’t mean anything. Lyrics are meant to be relatable. Everybody feels like the words were written about them.
  8. You saw his favorite movie on TV. There are hundreds of television channels. Chances are that you’ll stumble across his favorite movie or television show while you’re flipping through them all. It doesn’t mean anything, so don’t look too much into it.
  9. You heard an inside joke. If you two have an inside joke about Chipotle, and then you see a hysterical post about Chipotle online, it doesn’t mean you need to send it to him. Just enjoy the joke and keep it to yourself.
  10. You saw him on Tinder. This doesn’t mean that he’s your match. It means he’s already out looking for other girls to bang. If anything, seeing him on Tinder is a sign that you two should keep your distance from each other.
