Signs Your Partner Is Your Best Friend Too

When you’re in a relationship, you expect your partner to be your teammate, to support you, care for you, and love you well. However, some couples go above and beyond this, and your partner ends up taking the role of your best friend too. Here are some signs your relationship offers the best of both worlds: romance and friendship. How did you get so lucky?

  1. When you have news, they’re the first person you tell. Whether something hilarious happened at work or you just found out your sister is having a baby, your partner is the very first person you want to tell because duh, they’re your best friend. While it’s natural to share everything (well, most things) with your partner, BFFs have special places in our hearts and tend to come first. If your partner comes first, they’re definitely your #1 in all manners.
  2. No one makes you laugh more than them. It’s fine to want to rip each other’s clothes off, but there has to be more than that there for a successful relationship. When your partner is your best friend, not only do you want to have hot, passionate sex with them but you also love laughing with them over dumb movies, clumsy mistakes, or something silly your dog does. Laughter brings you closer together and it feels amazing.
  3. You don’t just love them, you genuinely love them as a person. Again, when you’re in a romantic relationship, it makes sense that you love your partner deeply. However, can you honestly say that you love their company and admire who they are as a person? Does their personality really gel with yours and represent all the qualities you love and aim to possess yourself? Ding ding ding! Your partner is your best friend too.
  4. You trust them with your life. You should be able to trust your partner to have your best interests at heart, but can you truly say you trust them with your life the way you would with your best friend? Our friends are our chosen family and are the ones we know we can rely on through thick and thin. Feeling secure in this bond is rare and incredible when it comes along, so hold on to it.
  5. When you’re down, they’re the one to cheer you up. Who can ask for more than that? When you’re lucky enough to have a partner who doubles as your best friend, you know that even when you’re having the worst day ever and just want to scream or cry your eyes out, your partner will be there to put a smile on your face.
