Signs You’re Closer To Your BFF Than Your Boyfriend

In many ways, our best friends often know us better than our boyfriends do. Even though he’s your partner, she’s your partner-in-crime. Have you ever felt like you were closer to your friends than your boyfriend? If you notice any of these signs, you might actually be right!

  1. People call your BFF’s phone to reach you. This is generally a sign that you’re spending more time with your bestie than your boyfriend. Being joined at the hip is awesome at times, but there’s a certain point where your guy is probably worried.
  2. Your BFF can finish your sentences, but your boyfriend can’t. A good way to tell if your best friend is actually your soulmate is to see how often they finish your sentences. Assuming they aren’t psychic, if your BFF does this on the regular, it’s safe to say that the two of you are as close as two people can be.
  3. When you get great news (or bad news), your first instinct is to text your best friend. It’s always great to share news with your bestie, but when telling your boyfriend usually comes second, it actually means something. We tend to share news with people in the order of their importance to us.
  4. You’re way more comfortable with your best friend than with your boyfriend. Typically, we feel more comfortable being ourselves with people who we’re close to. If you feel fine with walking around in pajamas with your best friend, but would insist on skirts around your boyfriend, that’s a clear indicator that you might be closer to your BFF.
  5. If you had to rely on one person, you automatically would choose your best friend. The person who you really would trust and rely on is usually someone who you are very close to. If you’re more ready to rely on your BFF than your boy toy, it’s a sign that your relationship with your best friend is exceptionally strong.
  6. Others have suggested (jokingly or otherwise) that you and your best friend should date, even when you’re taken. In this case, it might be a sign that you might actually want to consider dating your friend. When you’re so close that you’re behaving like an old married couple, there’s a good chance that the two of you might actually belong together.
  7. You and your best friend basically use couples’ codes at this point. You know what “that look” means from your best friend and what that one code word means when she says it. Using code words and inside jokes is a good measuring stick for how close the two of you really are. If your boyfriend still hasn’t figured out what certain things mean, then chances are that you’re closer to your friends.
  8. You can feel vulnerable around your friend, but not your boyfriend. Everyone has those moments where they just feel a need to rant about something that’s been making you feel insecure. If you feel more comfortable ranting to your friend than your boyfriend, that really does say volumes about how close you area to your BFF. Granted, too much ranting to your boyfriend can be a turn-off, but still, the message is still a clear one.
  9. You talk about your best friend more than your boyfriend. Who you talk about is who you tend to think about. The people who you’re closer to tend to be the ones who you think about the most frequently. The only exception is when you have a crush, and truthfully, if you talk about your crush less than your best friend, you might have a stronger crush on your bestie.
  10. If you had to choose one, you’d choose your best friend over your boyfriend. Homies over hoes, sistahs over mistahs!
