The Simplest Things a Man Can Do to Completely Win a Woman Over

Men have it tough when it comes to dating. They are often expected to be the pursuer, and also have to learn to be okay with rejection a lot of the time. It can be difficult to stay positive, and keep trying when your attempts never seem to lead anywhere. These days, dating is a lot less personal than it used to be, but there are definitely a few things a guy can do to stand out from the packs of frat-bro mentality that seems to have taken over. No girl wants to feel like just another number to a guy. She wants to feel special and respected, and guys would find themselves with a lot more dates if they just added a few things to their dating repertoire.

  1. Call her sometimes. Phones still have a calling function, just in case you weren’t aware. But it’s all texting, and tindering, and snap chatting, and WhatsApping these days. Call a girl to ask her out, and there’s no way she’ll turn you down.
  2. Compliment her. Everyone likes compliments. Especially girls who made a little extra effort to look nice for you. Or tell her she looks beautiful when she least expects it, like when she’s just lounging around in sweats. You’ll get so many points, you won’t know what to do with them.
  3. Be a gentleman. Open the car door for her, walk on the street side of the sidewalk, help her put on her jacket. Chivalry is a fairy tale to most women, but you can make it a reality.
  4. Do something nice for her friend. Winning over her friends is half the battle, so why not get a couple of them on your side too?
  5. Don’t try to fix everything— just listen. The instinct to offer a solution to every problem she has is only natural, but sometimes she just wants to vent. You don’t have to fix everything— she’s perfectly capable of doing that herself— so just be there for her.
  6. Surprise her. She mentioned she wanted to go to an art exhibit before it ends next week, so take her to the exhibit. Guys seem to have gotten pretty lazy on the date planning front lately, so if you can manage to organize a fun evening without her input, you’re going to look like someone she wants to go on more dates with in the future.
  7. Cook for her. If you can whip up a restaurant quality spaghetti bolognese without breaking a sweat, she’d going to be impressed. Or if all you can manage is the occasional omelet and toast, that’s OK. It’s the thought that counts.
  8. Hold her hand in public. You aren’t afraid of mild PDA– that’s a good sign.
  9. Dance with her. She doesn’t expect you to start a break dance battle or anything, but you can handle a slow dance or two. Don’t go the “I don’t dance” route like every other guy.
  10. Invite her out with your friends. She doesn’t want to tag along for every guy’s night. She probably won’t even come every time you invite her, so just invite her. It will show you want her around, and want to include her in your life.
