Summer is upon us, if not officially, at least in spirit — Memorial Day has come and gone, after all — and that means I’m ready to switch into warm weather mode. That begins with frozen cocktails, and it doesn’t come more colorful or more delicious than this Skittles vodka slushie recipe put together by Delish. I’m off to the store to get supplies right now!
- Candy and alcohol together? Sign me up. Skittles are delicious all on their own and so is vodka. Combine the two and you have the literal recipe for something very delicious. The Skittles vodka slushie is simple and doesn’t take many ingredients but they all work perfectly together.
- You’ll need just a few ingredients to make your own Skittles vodka slushie. As you can imagine, Skittles (a 15 oz. bag will do 10 of these babies) and vodka (750ml bottle) are the main two. You’ll also need a one-liter bottle of a lemon-lime flavored soda such as Sprite. Feel free to go sugar-free here if you’re concerned about the rush you’re already getting from the candy! Oh, you’ll also want some ice on hand too, of course.
- It takes time, so work ahead. After you combine the Skittles and vodka in jam jars, they’ll need to go into the fridge overnight so that the candy flavors can infuse into the alcohol. That means you’ll need to make them the day ahead if you’re planning to have a party. The next day, you throw the Skittles-infused vodka (without the candy pieces – those need to be filtered out!) into a blender with some Sprite and ice, blend it up, and you’re ready to go with your slushies!
- It’s the perfect drink to enjoy alone or with friends. While I don’t advocate drinking alone, by any means, times are tough right now with social distancing measures in place. I wouldn’t blame you for making a batch of these to try out before your next BBQ or backyard party, is all I’m saying. Skittles vodka slushies for everyone!
