Succulent Pumpkins Are The Seasonal Way To Show Off Your Plant Collection

I feel like everyone’s all about showing off their succulent collection during the warmer months, but when winter comes, all that greenery gets forgotten in the midst of all the seasonal decorations. But what if you could combine the two? Succulent pumpkins are the perfect way to do just that and they look amazing.

  1. So wait, what’s a succulent pumpkin exactly? It’s kind of exactly what it sounds like. It’s a hollowed-out pumpkin that you then plant your succulents inside. This gives you all the beauty of your orange or white gourd alongside your greenery for the best of both worlds. It’s genius!
  2. They’re really easy to make. If you’ve never hollowed out a pumpkin before to make jack o’ lanterns, you might be under the impression that it’s hard to do. I promise it’s not! Succulent pumpkins only require you to cut a hole around the stem so that you can remove the seeds and fibers inside. You’ll need to let it dry for a while inside before adding soil and your succulents, but once you’ve done that, you’re good to go!
  3. You can totally customize your pumpkin however you’d like. Maybe you want to paint black stripes on your orange pumpkin. Maybe you’re really good at art and you want to do a whole Halloween design. Succulent pumpkins are totally customizable and can be decorated however you want!
  4. It’s such a cool way to display your plants. In addition to being cheaper than buying planters (those things can get expensive!), it’s also pretty neat that you can use an actual plant to display your plants, so to speak. (I just typed “plant” a whole lot there). It just seems super eco-friendly too, which is always a plus in my book.
  5. It’s about to be autumn, so you can get started now. No need to wait until October to do this! If you want to make a succulent pumpkin and can get a hold of pumpkins at your local grocery store, farm stand, or another retailer, you should totally do it!
