Taylor Lautner ‘Praying For John Mayer’ After Taylor Swift Announces ‘Speak Now’ Re-Release

Taylor Lautner ‘Praying For John Mayer’ After Taylor Swift Announces ‘Speak Now’ Re-Release TODAY

Taylor Lautner has said that he’s not worried in the slightest about the re-release of Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” album. While some of the “Lavender Haze” singer’s ex-boyfriends she dated around the time the album was originally recorded might have cause for concern, the same can’t be said for Lautner. It’s John Mayer that needs to be shaking in his boots.

Appearing on the TODAY show, the 31-year-old said that Swifts are bound to be up in arms about the songs Swift recorded between 2009 and 2010. That just so happens to be the time when Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift had a brief romance. Incidentally, he wasn’t the subject of some of her most scathing songs (though “Back to December” was a sweet tribute to their relationship). That’s where Mayer comes in.

Asked what he thinks about the upcoming re-release of “Speak Now,” Lautner said: “I think it’s a great album. Yeah, I feel safe. Praying for John.”

If you’re not familiar with Taylor Swift and John Mayer’s relationship, it didn’t go very well. Many of her strongest emotions about Mayer were memorialized in the track “Dear John,” which contained some epic burns. The song accused her fellow musician of playing a “chess game” and presenting several different personalities during the course of their romance. She also points out their massive age difference, as she was only 19 when they were involved while he was 32.

Of course, Taylor Lautner won’t be that bothered about what Swift’s up to these days. He’s married now to his wife, whose name is also Taylor. However, Swifties are sure to have something to say to Mayer as “Speak Now” comes back to the forefront of people’s consciousness. Let’s hope they go easy on him. After all, that relationship is ancient history at this point, right?
