Teacher Who Had Sex With Student Told Teen Victim He ‘Deserved Special Things’

A Wisconsin student-teacher has been sentenced to six months behind bars for having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student. Courtney Roznowski, 32, admitted that she and the student had an inappropriate relationship throughout the summer of 2019 and while the relationship was entirely consensual, the boy’s age made the liaison illegal.

  1. The pair met while Roznowski worked at Southwest High School. However, according to reports, they did not begin their sexual relationship while she was employed with the Green Bay School District. This meant the charges she was facing of sexual assault of a student by a staff member were dropped.
  2. Roznowski pretty much groomed the boy. While she initially denied having a relationship with the boy, she later admitted their affair and told police that she was drinking heavily throughout the time they were involved. According to The Mirror, she wanted to serve as a mentor to the student and “didn’t want to see anything happen to him” because she loved him. A criminal complaint filed by another teacher at the school claimed that Roznowski and the student were “unusually close” whenever they were seen together.
  3. The boy couldn’t keep the secret either. When questioned by police, the boy also tried to stay mum, though he eventually couldn’t help but admit that it was “every kid’s dream to do a teacher.” He also revealed that Roznowski told him that he was “special and deserved special things.” Uh oh!
  4. Roznowski expressed regrets in court and insists she has her life together now. Admitting to having alcohol issues throughout the affair with the student, Roznowski accepted her six-month prison term and took responsibility for her actions. “I accept responsibility for what I did, and I know what I did was wrong,” she said. In addition to her time behind bars, she’ll be on probation for three years and must write a letter to the Southwest High School staff and all superintendents in the county. She also has to remain sober and can never work with minors again.
