Baseball Team Mascot In Big Trouble For Exposing His ‘Pickle’ To Unsuspecting Fans

The mascot for the West Coast League baseball team the Portland Pickles is in trouble this week for sharing a rather suggestive photo on the team’s Twitter page. Dillon, the dill pickle mascot, wrote “new phone who this” with a photo that appeared to show him exposing his green “pickle” to unsuspecting fans.

  1. Many people were really unhappy with the post. Some Portland Pickles fans deemed the post tasteless, while others pointed out how inappropriate such a thing is on social media, where kids might see it.
  2. The team insists it was all one big misunderstanding. After seeing all the backlash, Dillon’s photo was given a bit more context, with the team insisting it wasn’t what it seemed. “We have ended our mascot takeover. It’s come to our attention that this photo can be misinterpreted as a disturbing image. Dillon would like to go on record and say that he was trying to give his fans a thumbs up,” they wrote. Sure, sounds legit!
  3. Dillon is now in “timeout.” After the Lexington Legends said the situation was a “tough look for mascots everywhere,” the Pickles responded by saying that Dillon had been placed in “timeout” for the mishap, though it’s unclear if they’ll really be doing away with Dillon or if it’s all a little tongue-in-cheek.
  4. They still haven’t deleted the picture, though. Which pretty much tells you all you need to know. Dillon the Dill Pickle tweeted his suggestive photo purposely to get people talking and that’s just what they did. Let’s hope it translates to sales of tickets to their games!
