Teen Forced To Write Five Page Apology Letter To ‘Abusive’ Boss After Being 10 Minutes Late For Work

A teenage employee was infuriated and annoyed after she was forced to write a five-page apology letter to her employer for showing up 10 minutes late to work. The teen, known only as Madison, shared her story on Facebook along with a copy of the letter she wrote, prompting social media users to brand her boss “abusive,” among other colorful adjectives.

  1. Madison said she’d only been late once that year. Despite claiming to be a model employee who always arrives on time and ready to work, Madison admitted she was 10 minutes late to one shift. This was apparently enough to send her boss into an entitled meltdown, however, as he made her write what amounted to an essay about “the importance of being on time.”
  2. Apparently the apology had to be five pages, no shorter. “I show up to late to work ONE TIME,” Madison said in her Facebook post. “Have any of you all been forced to write an apology letter to management for being late or anything else or is my boss just insane? By the way this is only page one. It had to be five pages no f***ing joke.”
  3. Her boss threatened to fire her if she didn’t write the letter. Madison went on to say that her boss forced her to write this letter on her own time, not while on the clock at work, and threatened to fire her if she didn’t comply. “This was after I’d been working here for an entire year AND he said I had to do it on my own time and I had a deadline,” the 19-year-old said. “He said ‘bring it in by your next shift or you’re done.'”
  4. Madison was overwhelmed by the response she received online. She wrote the letter because she wanted to keep her job as a waitress, but seeing so much support from commenters who stood by her and insisted her boss’s behavior was inappropriate gave Madison a new perspective on the situation. “I am a 19-year-old, young server who is extremely good at her job, but I definitely don’t have the tactics or confidence to stick up for myself like I should. (I am a total pushover, as you all helped me notice),” she wrote in a follow-up Facebook post. “I want to thank you all for helping me realize how stupid I am for writing that letter to my boss, and how wrong it was for him to make me write it in the first place. Thanks to all of you, I am QUITTING FOR REAL.” Hopefully the boss is taken to task the next time he pulls a move like this!
