Tested: Pants You Can Pee And Poop In — Yes, You Read That Right

Have you ever been out and about in nature, maybe on a long hike or on a camping trip, and you think, “Oh s**t, I really need the toilet!” but there’s none in sight? It can be seriously panic-inducing, but it doesn’t have to be. If you don’t mind squatting behind the nearest bush, you can relieve yourself pretty easily. Plus, with Chickfly’s new pants, you can pee and poop without even having to pull your pants down. Outside magazine put them to the test to see how they performed, and the results were actually pretty impressive.

  1. They’re meant to be worn without underwear. Because of the way Chickfly’s leggings work – via overlapping moveable panels of fabric – you’ll need to go commando when wearing these. That’s cool and all, but could get dicey if you have your period and like the security of extra undergarments (or prefer using pads over tampons), though you can apparently wear a pad on the upper layer if needed.
  2. It’s a major win in the privacy department. As Outside reviewer Claire Barber shared, one of the best part of Chickfly’s leggings is that you don’t have to pull them down and expose yourself to use them. “You don’t need to pull the pants all the way down to go, and if you’re opening them from the front, your back and sides will be fully covered. When you’re done, the stretchy fabric springs back into place so you never feel exposed for long,” she writes. “Granted, you’re still peeing outside, so privacy is relative, but you avoid the hassle of hoisting your pants back up and mooning other outdoor patrons.”
  3. Admittedly, they do take a bit of practice. Barber pointed out that it takes a bit of dexterity and practice when it comes to wiping yourself after you pee or poop as one hand will have to hold back the separated fabric layers while the other wipes. However, once you get that off to a tee, you’re good to go.
  4. They’re made of odor-resistant bamboo fabric. This makes them incredibly moveable and comfortable but also ensures that you don’t stink too much throughout your hike/camping trip/yoga session/etc. Barber threw them into her dirty laundry after a couple of wears and then pulled them out again without washing and they kept the smells away, which is pretty impressive.
  5. If you’d like to get some of these yourself, hit up the Chickfly store. Their pants and leggings are sustainable and environmentally friendly. They sell for $119 per pair, which seems like a bargain if you’re someone who spends a lot of time in nature and away from a proper toilet.
