Texas Man Arrested For Searching Dark Web For Young Girl To Kill And Eat Shelby County Sheriff's Office

A 21-year-old Texas man has been arrested after an undercover operation which found him guilty of searching the dark web looking for a young girl to assault, murder, and eat. Alexander Nathan Barter of Shelby County posted an add looking for “anyone interested in allowing him to commit necrophilia and cannibalism to contact him, and gave two encrypted email addresses at which he could be reached,” according to KTRE.

  1. The Texas Department of Public Safety did some great work here. The undercover officer assigned to Barter saw posts Barter wrote on the dark web and posed as someone who was willing to offer his daughter up to Barter’s sick desires. “Nice! I’m in East Texas. How old is your daughter? Can we kill her?” Barter is said to have replied.
  2. Barter meticulously planned his crime. He wrote a detailed account of what he wanted to do to the girl and told the officer that he wanted to meet the girl before killing her, suggesting that they meet at a local hotel where he could assault the girl before murdering her and eating her. He told the officer to buy a burner phone and new clothes and instructed him to report the girl as missing after the deed had been done.
  3. He was aware of the gravity of his crimes and sure about wanting to do them. “I’m not going to change my mind about this. I really want to do this,” Barter allegedly wrote in an email. He made exact plans for meeting up with the undercover officer and his daughter and got ready to go.
  4. Barter was arrested when leaving the house. Believing he was on his way to meet the father and daughter, Barter was instead met by police. He was found to have a plastic bag and a knife on him, which he’d told the officer he would be bringing.
  5. He admitted it all. When confronted by police, Barter admitted he was the one who’d been chatting with the undercover officer and he was charged with “criminal solicitation, criminal attempt, conspiracy to commit capital murder and sexual performance of a child” and booked into the Shelby County Jail.
