Texas Man’s Skin ‘Melted Off’ After Girlfriend Set Him On Fire At Gas Station Arlington PD

A Texas woman is facing murder charges after she set her boyfriend on fire at a gas station. Ricky Doyle, 25, died on Tuesday at a Dallas hospital due to the burns he suffered in the July 18 attack, the Arlington Police Department announced. His girlfriend, Breana Johnson, will likely spend the rest of her life in prison for the horrific attack.

Doyle and Johnson had been arguing at the gas station. Witnesses told police that Johnson was heard telling the man “I’m going to kill you” during the fight. She then went inside and paid for $.50 cents worth of gas, which she then poured on Doyle while he sat in the backseat of a Jeep. She then walked around to the driver’s seat and set the vehicle on fire.

  1. Doyle was immediately engulfed in flames. He was seen trying to escape the car and running through the parking lot while on fire, trying to put out the flames. Another customer used a fire extinguisher to help him, but witnesses say he was already “bleeding and had skin that appeared to have melted off his body.”
  2. Johnson seemed pretty unbothered by the whole thing. As witnesses tried to help Doyle, Johnson told other customers that she had been smoking while pumping gas and that’s what started the fire. However, it was clear that wasn’t what happened, especially given her lack of concern for Doyle’s condition.
  3. Witnesses tried to confront her. A few told her they saw her set the man on fire and one witness tried to keep her at the scene until police arrived. However, Johnson is said to have pushed them to the ground before driving away with a smile on her face, according to a police report.
  4. Johnson was arrested shortly after. She was initially charged with aggravated assault-bodily injury with a deadly weapon. However, now that Doyle has sadly passed away, she will be charged with murder. She’s currently in custody at the Tarrant County Jail.
