A Texas mom was arrested after she reportedly left her baby in the car in order to go to a nightclub and get drunk with her husband. Samantha Grace Vaughan, 26, grinned in her mugshot following the incident at Trackside, a club in Copperas Cove, for which she was charged with abandoning or endangering a child with intent to return.

  1. The weather in Texas was incredibly hot. Temperatures on the evening of the arrest were around 80 degrees Fahrenheit, yet Vaughan left the car windows closed and the engine running with her 1-year-old inside. Thankfully, someone called the police when they noticed the child left unattended and called police, who arrived at the scene at roughly 1:45 a.m.
  2. Vaughan claimed she’d only gone inside to use the bathroom. As Vaughan told police, she’d only gone into Trackside to use the toilet and was really there to pick up her husband, who’d been inside drinking. However, she then admitted that she sat down with the man to take two shots, a police affidavit revealed.
  3. When she was arrested, she unleashed a tirade of racial abuse. Given that she’d left her baby alone and smelled strongly of alcohol, police went to arrest Vaughan, only for her to begin screaming racial abuse. “You will not take my child and place her with a f***ing n****r,” she allegedly said, among other offensive statements.
  4. They were eventually able to get her into a patrol car. However, once inside, she smashed her head against a steel bar, leaving a small cut on her forehead which can be seen in her mugshot. Upon taking a breathalyzer test, it was revealed that her blood alcohol level was more than double the legal amount. In addition to the child abandonment charges, Vaughan was also charged with resisting arrest and making a terroristic threat against a public servant.
