The Most Dangerous Sex Position Revealed, According to a New Study

Sex is great if you’re having it with someone you love – or even like enough to get naked with. It comes in all different flavours, from vanilla (shout out to fans of the missionary position!) to, well… everything but! Maybe S&M is your thing or you’re curious about pegging; perhaps your man’s doggy style game is off the charts or you get off on doing it in the park at night. Whatever it is that gets your motor running, that’s just fine. Two consenting adults giving each other pleasure is hot no matter which way you slice it.

That being said, sometimes “adventurous” sex can turn downright dangerous, and mishaps can lead to injuries, like your man’s junk getting snapped in half. It probably sounds rare, but it’s more common than you think – and you’ve probably done the position most likely to cause it. How do we know what that position is? Well, science, of course.

A new study out of Brazil claims that ladies being on top – otherwise known as the “cowgirl” position – is the real trouble-causer, here. The study found that 50% of penile fractures were caused by this position, likely because a woman’s entire body weight lands repeatedly on the penis during sex and can’t stop when there’s so-called “wrong way penetration”. On the other end of the spectrum, the safest position was found to be missionary style sex, so score one for the vanillas among us. Whatever type of sex you’re having, just make sure it’s good sex – and preferably sex that won’t end up leaving your man with a broken penis. Yikes!
