Thank God for our best friends, because sometimes, they’re the only ones who can set us straight. It’s a rare and beautiful thing to have a friend that can be completely open and honest with us about things we don’t want to hear — things you wouldn’t take from anyone else:
- “That shirt is ugly.” We all need a best friend who will tell us when our outfit choice is sub par.
- “You’re being a bitch.” Our BFFs are capable of delivering the slap in the face that brings us back to reality when we need it most. We were rude? They’ll let us know, and we won’t be mad because they’re just keeping us in check.
- “If you get back with your douchebag ex, I will kill you.” Sometimes it needs to be said. Our BFFs were there for us every time he was a major ass hat. When we’re lonely and our blinders are on, they’ll be there to remind us.
- “Do NOT cut your hair that short.” If our best friends can’t tell us that we don’t have the face shape for a pixie cut, then who can?!
- “Is this picture sexy enough to send?” Maybe this is just me, but I have sent a sexy (I think??) picture to my best friend so she can pre-approve it before I hit ‘send’ to my boyfriend. Nothing like the comfort two girlfriends share!
- “Can we cancel tonight? I don’t feel like getting dressed.” Sometimes all you want to do is Netflix and Chill… alone and not put a bra on. True best friends can be honest about not wanting to hit the town and know that the other won’t be hurt or take offense.
- “You were wrong.” Yes, it may suck to hear, but a best friend will tell us when we were being douchebags and when we should just get over it and own up to it.
- “You’re overthinking this.” We all have had those mini mental breakdowns when all of our focus is on something and it’s all we can talk about. Our bestie will be there to tell us to calm down and realize how much we’re overthinking or overanalyzing something.
- “He doesn’t like you.” Sometimes we justify continuing to stalk guys because we want them to like us. Best friends are honest, and they’ll be the voices of reason to stop you from drunk dialing him at 2 a.m. Thank God.
