The worst day of your life could end up teaching you the most important lesson to your life. That’s why you should appreciate everything that happens to you, even the rough stuff. Here are a few moments you might hate to look back on, even though you needed to go through them in order to get ready for a serious relationship:

  1. Dating horrible men. It’s easy to figure out what you don’t want after you date the wrong type of person. The plus side is that you’ll realize how amazing other men are in comparison to all of your exes.
  2. Going through a bad breakup. Every broken heart will teach you something valuable. Your past relationships exist so that you can learn from them and get yourself ready for a serious relationship.
  3. Your super long dry spell. All of that time alone gave you the opportunity to play around with your vibrator. Now you know how you like to be touched, which is something you’ll want to teach your boyfriend once you get into a long-term relationship.
  4. Being the third wheel. Since you know how awkward being the third wheel can be, you won’t treat your single friends like crap once you get into a serious relationship. You’ll make sure to include them, so it feels more like three friends just hanging out.
  5. Sleeping with strangers. It’s healthy to experiment. That way, after you get married, you’ll never wonder if there was someone better for you out there.
  6. Hating love. We all go through a period where we despise couples, kissing, and love in general. However, once you find a serious boyfriend, and put aside your hatred of romance to date him, it’ll show just how serious you are about him.
  7. Getting rejected. Admitting when you have a crush on someone is a great way to become comfortable expressing your feelings. Once you enter a serious relationship, that skill will help you out a lot.
  8. Failing at flirting. If you suck at flirting, you have to practice until you become better at it. By the time you meet the love of your life, you should be a pro with winks and hair flips.
  9. Witnessing divorce. It’s never any fun to watch your parents, or any other couple, go through a divorce. Of course, you can always learn from their mistakes, so that you don’t end up following in their footsteps.
  10. Your crush getting a girlfriend. Any day your crush gets a girlfriend is a bad day. However, it’ll teach you that you should make a move whenever you like a man, so that you don’t end up losing out on something great.
