You can always count on TikTok to come up with the wildest and weirdest trends, especially when it comes to love and dating. One of the latest crazes doing the rounds, the smiley face relationship quiz, promises to help you “find your dating style with a smiley character.” And while it might seem like a load of nonsense, TikTok users insist it’s “so accurate.” Worth a try, eh?

TikTok didn’t come up with this quiz. In fact, it was made by a Korean website called Ktestone.com. They offer a bunch of silly and fun personality tests, but the smiley face dating quiz is one of the most popular.
Basically, the quiz asks you 12 questions about your likes and preferences. Some of the questions are kinda random, like what you’d do if you had an “unexpected appointment suddenly” and what you think about when you’re on a plane. Once you answer the questions, you’re given your own personal smiley face that tells you a bit about your personality as it relates to dating. There are 12 different results you can get, and if TikTokers are to be believed, it’s scarily on point.
However, keep in mind that your results might be a bit harsh. For instance, when I took the quiz, I was given the burgundy smile, which told me I’m “a love bot that only laughs without empathy.” Ouch! Apparently, I’m best suited to a pink smile or a mint smile, whatever those personality types are! I also found out that brown and orange smiles aren’t for me.

How many hours have we all wasted over the years doing BuzzFeed quizzes to find out our Harry Potter patronus or which Sex and the City character we should be best friends with? These things are a fun way to pass the time even if they’re not all that illuminating about who we are as people. The smiley face dating quiz seems to be so big on TikTok because it’s so silly. However, it also seems to give some legit feedback that people who’ve taken it relate to.
To date, the hashtag #smiledatetest has more than 627,000 views on TikTok, showing just how much users are enjoying it. People just can’t believe how much their results fit their personalities. For instance, user @ninaisrotten shared that she got a blue smile, making her a “solver who solves the lover’s problems,” which she described as “very accurate.” Meanwhile, @lesbianleslie described her khaki smile result, as well as the results of her followers in the comments, as “true asf” and “so real.”
People are even using the smiley face dating quiz as a way to try and pick up dates. In several of the posts, when someone shares their quiz result, others come in the comments to claim they got a compatible smiley and ask the poster if they want to go out. Chances are, it’s all in good fun. But meeting someone on social media isn’t as far-fetched as you might think!
Chances are, the quiz won’t really tell you anything you didn’t know about yourself. You might even find it inaccurate. However, one thing’s for sure: It’s a good way to waste a few (more) minutes on the internet. While you’re there, you might as well take the love character test too!
