Tiny Ear Tattoos Are A New And Surprisingly Adorable Trend

Whether or not you have any yourself, most people can appreciate beautiful body art. However, while tattoo enthusiasts generally opt for more conventional parts of their body to ink up, a new trend seems to be tiny ear tattoos, and they’re surprisingly adorable and intricate. I almost kind of want one myself!

  1. Lots of celebrities have ear tattoos. We’re talking Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Cara Delevingne, and quite a few more. While I never suggest doing something just because a celebrity does it, they were clearly forward-thinking when it came to this trend!
  2. It’s not as painful as you might assume. From personal experience, getting tattooed on bone is more painful than on soft tissue. However, the ears are mostly cartilage so it’s not as agonizing as you might think. Plus, if you’re getting a design that’s rather minimal and pretty, you won’t be under the tattooing needle for too long anyway.
  3. It’s best to keep things minimal. As tattoo artist Isaac Jeffs told the New York Post, it’s better to choose more minimal designs if you’re thinking of getting your ear inked and not get tempted by anything too busy or ink-heavy. “I only want to do very minimal, mostly abstract work in the ears,” he explained. “Since it is so trendy, I always feel abstract work is more timeless and can fade much nicer.” And, given the rather dainty work he features on his Instagram account, it’s clear he’s stuck to his guns on this one!
  4. If you’re thinking of getting a tattoo, consider the ears. Yes, it’s super trendy right now and might not be in a while, but like all trends, it’s cyclical and they’ll come ’round again. But besides all that, you should never do anything strictly because it’s trendy. Instead, choose ink that’s meaningful to you and that you really want to wear on your body for the rest of your life. It’s about self-expression, not fashion!
